Natalie

Pack a farm to table picnic lunch and snacks at Wild Gals Market in Naturita and then drive 15 minutes down the road to hike The Shamrock Trail. This incredible canyon hike offers views of the Hanging Flume, San Miguel River and ends at the confluence of the San Miguel and Dolores Rivers. On a summer day, I like to pack a swimming suit and take a dip in the red rock canyon followed by a picnic lunch on the beach like area. After getting back to V, I love a good campfire with a night of star bathing under the dark sky.

Susan

“Coffee from Genesis Coffee shop in Nucla and a walk with Fergus the dog around the Nucla Loops. Gather gear, sit on top kayaks and paddle boards for a float down the hanging flume stretch of the San Miguel River. Stop at Wild Gal’s for lunch snacks and spend the day on the river, paddling, hiking, and splashing through the insanely beautiful canyon. Back in the evening for some veggie burgers, good conversation, and beers on the porch. Then, finally, a nightcap of a magical evening walk with Fergus, the owls, and the twinkly stars.”

Howard

“Coffee on the front porch and then a walk up the hill to the water talk for some meditation and yoga and then a check of the view out of the Ecozoic toilets. A quick email surf on the porch of Cabin 9 and then logoff for the day. Head to Miramonte for some fly fishing, with a stop in Naturita, Blondies for a Beyond Burger and waffle fries and a 6er of locally made beers at Walkin Liquors. Spend the day at Miramonte catching record breaking sized trout. These monsters are brought back to CampV where they are are wrapped in lemons, foil and love, and grilled up over the fire to be enjoyed on the back porch where the whole beautiful day started.”

Swim in the Pond

In the summer, of course! And at your own risk in the winter- but you do you!

Enjoy a refreshing dip and relax on our floating dock. Explore the edges in the canoe or cruise around on a Stand-up Paddle Board. Keep your eyes open for ducks and the occasional river otter or cast your line and catch a fish. The pond is a tranquil escape and a great spot to spend the afternoon.

Enjoy a Campfire and Gaze at the Stars

We have many fire rings throughout the property. Let us know if you need firewood and we’ll get you all set up for a warm night under the stars.

Take a Hike Right From CampV

Head to the top of our property and through the back gate. To the left head towards the town of Naturita and end at an old property and shack. Distance: 1.5 miles one way, 3 miles round trip from the cabins.

To the right outside the gate follows a flagged trail (a work in progress) that zig zags around the back side of the property. Ask us for more details!
